Biography —
Robert Hanzlik earned his B.A. in chemistry and biology from Southern Illinois University, and completed his Ph.D. in organic chemistry at Stanford University. He joined the faculty at KU in 1971 after postdoctoral studies at Cambridge University in England. He teaches in MDCM 710 Physiological Aspects of Medicinal Chemistry and MDCM 790 Principles of Drug Design. His research is focused on mechanistic studies of drug metabolism and drug toxicity. He also directs an NIH COBRE Center in Protein Structure and Function that provides research support, research facilities and mentoring to junior faculty at KU, KUMC, WSU and KSU.
